Shoreline School Readiness Welcomes Guadalupe Tausch and Colors of Spanish to West Marin! It’s never too early to give your child the gift of a second language. And if you already speak Spanish, our classes are a wonderful way to support your child’s school readiness and foster a healthy cultural appreciation and world view. To learn more about Guadalupe, our Spanish Immersion teacher, click  for the cover story in the Pt. Reyes Light. The next session of Spanish classes begins March 26th-May 21st. There are no classes on April 9th. Interested in enrolling your child? Email alexporrata@mac.com to sign up today.

What is School Readiness?

First 5 California and First 5 Marin define “School Readiness” as:

  1. Children’s readiness for school (physical well being and motor development, social and emotional development, approaches to learning, language development, and cognition and general knowledge

  2. Schools’ readiness for the children and

  3. The development, coordination and augmentation of family and community supports that contribute to children’s readiness for school success.

First 5 Marin’s School Readiness efforts are community-driven, collaborative and strengths-based. Shoreline’s School Readiness Initiatives are based upon community participation, design, involvement and decision-making. Efforts that are community driven, collaborative and strengths-based have proven their sustainability and effectiveness. The West Marin/Shoreline community participated in the creation of all programs to develop clear goals and strategies for our families with children ages 0-5.
